The Edvard Grieg Society promotes the music of Edvard Grieg as well as other Nordic composers. An annual concert series of unique, varied and delightful performances by local and international performers offers events in the fall, winter and spring. Concerts include all types of music from vocal soloists, chamber, piano, string quartet, choral and traditional Norwegian instruments. Highlights of the Edvard Grieg Society include the Oslo Chamber Choir.’

HEATHER JOHNSON, MEZZO SOPRANO AND JOHN LIDAL, PIANIST

Critically acclaimed opera singer, Heather Johnson and pianist John Lidal performed Sunday, April 21 at Mindekirken.  A 2002 Metropolitan Opera National Council Semi- Finalist, Ms. Johnson received her Masters degree from Manhattan School of Music and Bachelors of Music degree from St. Olaf College. She is a native Minnesotan, currently residing in New York.She opens on February 15 in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of “Parsifal.”

KRISTIN JONINA TAYLOR AT MINDEKIRKEN

Dr. Kristín Jónína Taylor, Icelandic- American pianist performed Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Mindekirken Norwegian Lutheran Memorial Church in Minneapolis. Taylor performed  pieces by Edvard Grieg as well as compositions by other Nordic composers.

NORWEGIAN TRUMPETER GIVES TWIN CITIES DEBUT AT MINDEKIRKEN

The Edvard Grieg Society had the distinct privilege of presenting the Twin Cities debut of rising star, Norwegian trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth in a solo recital February 7th at Mindekirken.  Ms. Helseth performed a program of varied repertoire consisting of pieces by Martinu, Enescu, Ravel and Manuel de Falla.  A special highlight of the evening was her performance of the Haugtussa song cycle by Edvard Grieg.  Ms. Helseth was assisted by collaborative artist, renowned pianist Sonja Thompson.  During her Minnesota engagement, Ms. Helseth was heard on Minnesota Public Radio, and also gave a master class for a group of brass students at St. Olaf College in Northfield.
