Concert at Augsburg College Huge Success

On Saturday, September 26, over 300 people attended the Oslo Chamber Choir concert in Hoversten Chapel at Augsburg College. The acoustics in the beautiful venue were superb for the ethereal music of the kveding style of folk music. Standing around the perimeter of the audience and in the balcony, each of the choir members' individual voices could be heard both separately and together to creating an exquisite sound. Mr. Nystedt's reserved and meticulous directing style controlled every breath, whisper, note, and sound of the 31 member choir.
Norway has many wonderful musical groups, but this one certainly shines! Norway House was pleased and proud to have hosted this exciting and unique group which combines youth, creativity and excellence with the ancient music of Norway.
Thank you to all who attended and supported this 2009 Minnesota Tour.

Edvard Grieg Society Announces its 2009-10 Season

Please note this is a tentative schedule and is subject to change.

Norway House's Edvard Grieg Society announces its 2009-2010 season, which will include three exciting events that explore the wonderful riches of Nordic repoertoire and performers.

The fifth season will start with a performance by the exceptional choral group, the Oslo Chamber Choir, in late September. Their previous visit to the Midwest in 2007 was a huge success and more venues have been added for this tour.

The kick-off will be a return visit of the Oslo Chamber Choir in 2009. After their sell-out performance in 2007, the focal point of this tour will be Norwegian folk music. The Oslo Chamber Choir is   a outstanding ambassador of Norwegian music.

Then in November, the Edvard Grieg Society will proudly present the internationally  renowned Norwegian pianist, Haavard Gimse for a breathtaking concert.

In May 2010, there will be a Syttende Mai celebration and musical collaboration between the Edvard Grieg Society and the Civic Orchestra of Minneapolis.

Remember, it is your membership and continued support which makes these wonderful concerts possible. Renew your membership and help continue this rich cultural program of Norway House.
