Peace Initiative
The Norway House Peace Initiative was organized with the goal of developing a road map to effectively deal with the global challenges of the 21st century. The Norway House Peace Initiative was created by 2008 ‘Going Viking’ Award winner Janet Dolan and her husband William Moore who share the vision of creating meaningful programs building on the longstanding Norweigan tradition of serving as peacemaker and facilitator for dialogue about a variety of difficult issues regarding world peace.
Peace Initiative events have featured speakers such as former Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik, President of the Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights, in 2007, 2008, and 2011. In addition to collaborating with the Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights – U.S. Foundation, the Peace Initiative works with Minnesota International NGO Network, Humphrey School for Public Affairs, Sons of Norway and Minnesota International Center.
The Norway House Peace Initiative is an ongoing program, which features prominent speakers who share their insights on the many facets of peacemaking. The Peace Initiative seeks to create an open community dialogue about peacemaking and enhance the atmosphere for peacemaking through education and information exchanges.
