Business + Government

A major part of the work that happens at Norway House is not always the most visible to visitors. As a hub for contemporary connections between Norway and America, our relationships with business leaders, governments, and community leaders are vast and growing daily.

  • BARN is our flagship business program, which has served more than 20 Nordic enterprises making their way into the American market since its inception in 2019. BARN is a trusted resource and springboard for Nordic business leaders, connecting Norwegian business leaders directly with the people who matter and the network that will help them succeed.

  • Norway House is home to the Consular Offices in Minneapolis. As an official arm of the Norwegian Embassy in America, Hon. Consul Eivind Heiberg and Hon. Vice Consul Britt de Lange Ardakani help facilitate the development of commercial, economic, cultural, scientific, and educational relations between Norway and the upper Midwest region and provide consular services to Norwegian citizens.

  • Norway House is closely affiliated with NorCham (formerly NACC). NorCham fosters commercial, trade, and business relationships by organizing various business events that facilitate networking and further business development. Their counterpart in Norway, AmCham has been active since 1998 and represents approximately 230 member companies to build Norway’s foremost transatlantic business network.

  • Minnesota and Norway have so many fascinating connections with each other. Naturally, the environment is similar; our relationships to water (10,000 lakes and 10,000 fjords), our population size… We also have many values and challenges that unite us: a culture of humbleness, our extreme weather, our havens for Somali immigrants and asylum seekers, our educational and environmental values, our state pride, and our medical technology innovations, to name a few.

Norway House is an obvious center for important meetings between our two nations. With our central location, ready facilities and staff, connection to the Consulate and Embassy, and proven track record, we’re some of Minnesota and Norway’s biggest fans—and we love to show them off!

BARN

Springboard

Norwegian and pan-Nordic companies can confidently look to the BARN at Norway House as a vital concierge concerning the intricacies of US markets. Your business can make it abroad, and we have proven success as a springboard for a variety of companies getting their footing in America.

While you establish your roots, the BARN will give your company temporary access to business and meeting space for a nominal fee. Located in the Twin Cities Metro region, the BARN at Norway House provides a friendly and supportive environment while learning and transitioning into a new business culture.

Mentors

Our mentors are experienced business professionals with a wide variety of expertise who volunteer their time to connect with BARN clients. Mentors work closely with you to develop a market entry strategy. BARN clients needing expanded help will be introduced to experts who can be contracted to help if requested.

Investors

We draw upon our own professional networks and those of the broader Norwegian-American community to connect companies with experienced investors who offer open doors to BARN clients. These experts are willing to look at opportunities, provide feedback, share connections, and when appropriate, consider an investment.
