Based upon his genealogical research, Dr. John Haugo will first describe Norwegian farming and church structure, primarily during the 1800s. Based upon his visits the ancestral farms and churches of each of his immigrant grandparents and great-grandparents will be described and shown. The family ancestral farms, which typify those of most Norwegian Americans, vary from independently-owned farms to husmann cottages. The ancestral churches include both stave churches [stavkirker] and modern churches.
