Arizona based artist, Jana Peterson shares with Norway House an array of dramatic and vivid paintings from her Nordic Heritage Series. The colorful works will boldly deck the walls of our café on the main floor, the living room of Norway House, offering picturesque tastes of the iconic fjords, flowers, viking ships, and mountains that harken us all to think of the sagas and the rugged beauty of the Nordic landscape. Enjoy a cup of coffee and a waffle at Norway House, newly decorated with Peterson's work.
About the artist,
A versatile and prolific contemporary artist, Jana Peterson creates striking images ranging from earthy abstractions, realism, portraiture, to futuristic galactic visions. Peterson's work, much of what is on display at Norway House, fuses an ardent appreciation of the old Masters with the bold and realistic vision of high technology. Peterson's specialty, as one will quickly note, is her use of color--which enlivens and transforms the many various rooms around the world in which her art has hung. Her corporate national and international clientele include IBM, GTE, Motorola, VLSI, Mayo, SGS Thomson. She's had shows in the West Valley Art Museum, the Herberger Theatre, the Scottsdale Center for the Arts, Norway's Center for the Arts, and most recently, a summer show at the Cherry Tree Art & Design center in Reykjavik, Iceland.
Peterson is continuously seeking new styles and mediums: architectural drawing, contemporary abstracts, sculpture, landscape, surreal trompe l'oeil, portraiture, and still life. Coming from a family of artists and teachers, she obtained a MA in Art Education and has been teaching for over 30 years. "I want my work to leave an impression," Peterson explained, "to evoke emotion, to inspire.... to change the inner being." Peterson also holds a BFA in dance from Stephens College in Columbia, MO. She's been in many dance companies and continues to dance with Fiesta Flamenca and the The Scandinavian Folk Dancers of Phoenix, AZ.
