Carol Sersland, Telemark tradition bearer and Kari Tauring, Nordic Roots scholar, present a series of Nordic dances in advance of the Nordic Ball on February 9, 2019. Musicians such as Art Bjorngjeld, Char Bostrom, and many other guests will play for both the lesson and the social dance!
Lessons are designed for absolute beginners and break down the steps and body postures so that even advanced dancers hone their skills.
Lessons are taught in Nordic Roots Dance style, with non-gendered language, no partner necessary, and a foundation in rune postures using dances such as gangar (a walking dance), springar (a running dance), and schottische (or reinlender in Norwegian) for two or four people.
The lesson will run from 6 – 7 pm with social dancing until 9pm.
Bring snacks and drinks!
Cost is $10 at the door.
