10 years since the publication of In Cod We Trust: Living the Norwegian Dream, Erik Dregni’s book remains not only relevant, but also an hilarious and heartwarming memoir about Dregni’s year-long long experiment in Norway, including discoveries about his family history, culture clash, and his son’s birth into the remarkably generous Norwegian healthcare system. Dregni visits Norway House 10 years after the publication of his book to share slides and stories from winter in Norway, and to read selections from his book.

In Norway, there is a concept called Dugnad in which friends and families come together in a social way to help see a community project to completion. We seek to create another access point for families, organizations, and educational groups to start their own gingerbread decorating traditions by gathering a team to donate to create gingerbread house kits that include cookie walls, candy to decorate, and a royal icing recipe to assemble them all!
Participants will go home with an official Gingerbread Wonderland apron, a gingerbread kit to decorate themselves or pass along, and plenty of baking tips and practice to make their own gingerbread structure. Participants will also be recognized for their donation throughout the length of the exhibit.
