Finding Peace: A dialogue on community peace-building with Bjørn Ihler

How can we talk about and understand hate and violence in our community and in the world? In what ways does hate lead to violence? How does hate appear in our communities and networks?

Heartland Democracy welcomes Norwegian activist and academic Bjørn Ihler to Minnesota, to help us launch a new conversation and action agenda around recognizing and combating hate and violence.

Bjørn brings a unique perspective on how people across the globe are working together to counter hate and build peace. He is influenced by his experiences since surviving a terror attack on students in Norway in July 2011, an attack perpetrated by a Norwegian white nationalist.

He now works at the Oslo Freedom Forum and is a Young Leader on the Extremely Together Project at the Kofi Annan Foundation, where he works to combat violent extremism all over the world.

Bjørn will be joined by Heartland Democracy at Norway House to host an informal dialogue and Q&A on these issues leading up to Bjørn’s lecture at Macalester the following day, Monday, June 24th.

The event at Norway House is free of charge but we appreciate RSVPs in advance to anticipate audience attendance. Please use the from below to register.
