The Edvard Grieg Society of Minnesota is pleased to announce the upcoming performance of the Oslo-based Norwegian string quartet, Quartetto Testosterone. Since the quartet’s 2008 inception, they have performed in notable venues across Norway and appeared in festivals such as the Oslo Quartet Series, Risør Chamber Music Festival, and the Harmos Festival in Portugal. The group won first prize in the Norwegian National Youth Music competition and were finalists in the Rimbotti International String Quartet Competition in Italy. These vibrant and talented musicians will perform Edvard Grieg’s String Quartets number 2 in F Major and number 1 in G minor, with composer Magnar Åm’s work, “Er også me borne” (“Are Also We Carried”) in between. Violinist Daniel Lyngstad says of the Magnar Åm piece, “This will be a more contemplative Norwegian contemporary piece that we believe will be a great contrast to the two Grieg quartets.”
Quartetto Testosterone Features:
- Daniel Lyngstad | Violin
- Sondre Fjose Sandberg | Violin
- Jakob Dingstad | Viola
- Sverre Barratt-Due | Cello
This concert is free of charge. Donations accepted at the door in support of Edvard Grieg Society of Minnesota programming.
The quartet will give a masterclass at Augsburg University prior to their performance at Mindekirken.
