Come visit this rotating exhibit in the Coltvet Room at Norway House celebrating more than a century of collaboration and joint exploration between Norway and the United States. Many of the first discoveries in the Arctic and the Antarctic were made by Norwegian or American expeditions, or by Norwegian and American explorers working together.
Explore photographs and illuminating text about journeys by explorers such as Richard Byrd, Roald Amundsen, Fridtjof Nansen, and Robert Peary. Every two weeks we will feature new panels exploring new stories and adventures part of the traveling exhibit. During the exhibit, a video of polar explorer and last year's guest exhibitor, David Thoreson will play recounting his adventures through the polar regions.
Organized by the Fram Museum in Oslo and in cooperation with the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and sponsored by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in DC, this exhibition examines the longstanding partnerships established between Norwegian and US explorers of the Arctic and Antarctic regions.
