Oslo Pax: Peace and Climate Change

The Nobel Peace Center in Oslo is organizing the first-ever Oslo Pax: an annual peace gathering at The Nobel Peace Center in Oslo.

The Oslo Pax will also be live-streamed all over the world. Norway House invites you to this FREE event to view the discussion on September 5. Participate by tweeting in questions from the Norway House that will be asked live at the Oslo Pax in a session with Christiana Figueres and youth climate leaders, including Kelsey Juliana.

In 2015, at 19, Kelsey Juliana submitted a Constitutional Climate Change lawsuit alongside 20 other youth against the United States Government: Juliana, et al. v. United States of America. The lawsuit is ongoing to this day and is currently handled by Our Children's Trust. This non-profit organization “elevates the voice of youth to secure the legal right to a stable climate and healthy atmosphere for the benefit of all present and future generations.”

Taking place 4-5 September - under the theme of Peace and Climate Change. The Oslo Pax on Climate and Peace is a summit for action and impact, where young leaders and activists will meet decision-makers, scientists and Nobel Prize laureates, and together produce concrete recommendations to the UN Climate Summit this September in New York.

Christiana Figueres – the lead United Nations diplomat who oversaw the Paris Agreement process - will chair the 2019 Oslo Pax. Among the speakers: Nobel Peace Prize laureate Tawakkol Karman, Cicero’s Director Kristin Halvorsen, Amnesty International’s Secretary General Kumi Naidoo, and climate activist Penelope Lea.
