Art + Performance

At Norway House, we believe that arts, concerts, and performances are essential in bringing people together, inspiring creativity, and bridging cultural gaps. We strive to create a welcoming space where diverse voices and artistic expressions can flourish. Our venue provides a vibrant and welcoming space for artists to share their work and for audiences to immerse themselves in the arts.

Performance Venues

Norway House’s Sundet Aula and Mindekirken’s historic sanctuary provide dramatic backdrops for concerts and other performances on the Norway Block. Norwegian folk musicians, pop idols, classical virtuosi, and jazz cats have all played on our block.

Upcoming Art + Performances

On Display at Norway House

Culture and art come alive in the Galleri at Norway House. Guests can take in photography, paintings, digital works, ceramics, and more by Nordic artists. Or sometimes, cultural exhibits about Nordic cuisine, fascinating innovations, or indigenous traditions. During the Holiday season, Norway House transforms into a gingerbread destination, featuring our massive Gingerbread Wonderland—an edible city of cookie buildings and landmarks made by community members. Maybe you could make one this year!

We host exhibits in the spacious Torgerson Vestibyle, over the Tunheim Peis (fireplace), and in our Kaffebar throughout the year. Check below for upcoming Galleri shows, exhibits, displays, and pop-ups!

We’re proud to host our first-ever Arrangement Competition as a part of our ongoing connection to the work of Edvard Grieg, Nordic composers, and folk music. The organizing committee of Edvard Grieg Society of Minnesota has laid out the guidelines for competitions in both Young Artists and Adult Divisions with cash prizes and performance opportunities for both. This will join our cycle of competitions going forward, starting with a 2025 strings competition, then a voice competition, followed by a piano competition.

Seeking arrangements of either a folk song from one of the Nordic countries (Norway, Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Sweden, or music of the Sami people) or a work of art music in the public domain by a recognized composer from a Nordic country.
