You make Norway House a home.

Give today

Norway House is founded upon and continues to grow because of contributions from our members, donors, and organizations who believe in our mission to connect the United States and contemporary Norway through art, business, and culture. As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization, every dollar you put in can be seen directly in gallery and meeting spaces, the dedicated staff, the databases and websites that connect our community, and the general upkeep of our campus buildings and grounds that house new and exciting programming for the over 40,000 visitors who come through our doors each year.

Supporting Norway House means encouraging visitors of all ages to make a genuine connection to Nordic culture. We welcome gifts of all kinds. Your help keeps our cultural center vibrant and open to everyone.

Mutual Fund Donations

Mutual fund shares can be a wonderful charitable gift, especially because tax accounting can be challenging if you sell them yourself. Usually, you can only transfer these shares immediately to a charitable organization when it is within the same brokerage house or through a discount broker. More often, the charity must create its own account with that mutual fund, through which it receives and liquidates the donor’s shares. This process can take up to 2-4 weeks.

Matching Gifts

If you work for an organization that has a matching gift program you could double the amount of your donation to Norway House. Many companies will match gifts from current as well as retired employees, spouses, or members of their board of directors. Check with your company regarding its matching gift policy.

Workplace Giving Programs

Contact your employer’s Human Resources department regarding donor designation of gifts through your workplace giving campaign. Even if Norway House is not a designated charity, it is likely that you will be able to recommend our inclusion in the program, or that you can designate all or a portion of your gift to Norway House by adding a brief letter to your donor form.

Planned Giving

Planned giving offers many opportunities for donors to support our programs and receive meaningful tax benefits. Here are some of the most common gift vehicles:

  • Will or Trust Provision

  • Retirement Account Designation or Gift (401k, 203b, SEP)

  • Life Insurance

  • Charitable Gift Annuity

  • Charitable Remainder Trust

Using these options, you can make a gift to build Norway House’s endowment, including creating a named endowment fund to leave a personal, lasting legacy. To learn more about planned giving opportunities, please get in touch with Christina Carleton, Executive Director, at ccarleton@norwayhouse.org. You may also have a form for Norway House with provisions and the Letter of Intent a Future Gift sent to your address, or you may pick them up at our offices.
