Recycled Gnomes with Lynn Hjelmen

  • Norway House 913 East Franklin Avenue Minneapolis United States (map)

It’s winter, and it’s time to feed the birds!

Join Lynn Hjelmen, author of The Recycled Gnome, to learn how to make an appealing Scandinavian gnome from recycled materials. The class project is a 12” Gnome with a Bird. All the materials needed for the class will be provided.

Once you have taken a class with Lynn, you can use her techniques to create to whole family of gnomes to join the one you make in class. Use Lynn’s ideas and sweaters, pillows, sheets, and cardboard, items that you probably already have.

Kits for other gnomes will be available from the teacher after class. Her book will be available at Also Ingebretsen’s, located in Norway House.

This class fills quickly each time it is offered. Register soon, as this will be the last Recycled Gnomes offering until autumn!

$45 General Registration | $40 Members of Norway House

Note: We need 48 hours’ notice in order to reschedule your tickets or to provide a refund if there is a cancellation. Thank you.

Lynn Hjelmen has always had an interest in researching her Scandinavian roots. After 34 years of teaching, she found in retirement the time to create her version of the Scandinavian gnome, the tomte, in recycled sweaters. Last January, her instructional book, The Recycled Gnome, was released.
