Join Britt Ardakani, a lifelong knitter, as she guides you through making the basics and onto making a triangular scarf.
This class is for absolute beginners and people who haven't knitted for years and want a refresher. You will meet two times, Thursday, April 9 and Thursday, April 16, 2026. You will learn the following essential knitting skills:
Cast on
Cast off
Increasing
Decreasing
Garter stitch
I-cord edging
Reading a simple pattern
Knitting on circular needles
Britt will supply a skein of a soft wool yarn for each knitter in your choice of neutral colors. Your needles will also be supplied.
The class is held in the Norway House Kaffeebar, during our happy hour. You are welcome to bring a drink or food from the Kaffebar into the class.
You will first knit a swatch, a small square for practicing the stitches you are learning. When you feel confident, Britt will show you how to read a pattern and to make a small scarf.
Please order the downloadable pattern from Petite Knit: https://www.petiteknit.com/en/collections/digitale-opskrifter/products/sophie-scarf?variant=39839447777335
We will be happy to print your pattern out for you if needed.
If you would prefer to knit a hat, you can do that instead! Just tell Britt which you would like to do on the first day of class.
Please note: Norway House does refund tickets. If you can't attend, consider giving your place in class to a friend. You can also attend a "Knit with Britt" later in the year. Email classes@norwayhouse.org and let us know to expect you at another session.
