Tour Mindekirken, the Norwegian Memorial Lutheran Church

  • Norway House 913 East Franklin Avenue Minneapolis, MN, 55404 United States (map)

Take a free guided tour of Mindekirken, the Minneapolis church founded by Norwegian immigrants who are keeping traditions alive.

Mindekirken is the only remaining congregation in America whose services are conducted primarily in Norwegian. It was established in 1922, a time when many congregations were encouraged to worship in English. The founders of Mindekirken felt it was important to honor their Norwegian ancestors, maintaining traditions and continuing to worship in Norwegian. It has remained true to that purpose for over 100 years.

There are two 45-minute tours available: 10:15 am and 11:15 am. The tours of the building covers church history and artwork. The tour begins promptly, meeting in the church lobby via the canopy entrance from the parking lot.

Mindekirken is on the same block as Norway House and shares a parking lot with them. If you are coming to Norway House for Gingerbread Wonderland, this is the perfect addition to your visit.

RSVPs appreciated but not required.
